Timberwolves’ Jaden McDaniels sidelined week-to-week due to knee injury

Jaden McDaniels, a forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been designated as week-to-week due to a left knee injury, as announced by the team on Monday.
An MRI has shown that McDaniels is dealing with left knee patella tendinopathy along with a bone bruise. He sustained the injury late in Wednesday’s overtime victory against the Houston Rockets and was unable to participate in the Wolves’ defeat to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
Over the years, McDaniels has been a reliable player for the Wolves, having played over 70 games in all but one of his six NBA seasons. This season, he is averaging 14.8 points, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, serving as Minnesota’s top perimeter defender.
This injury update arrives at a challenging moment for the Timberwolves, who are engaged in a competitive seeding race in the Western Conference standings with eight games remaining in the regular season. Minnesota, set to face the Mavericks on Monday night, is currently tied for the No. 5 seed with the Rockets and holds a five-game advantage in the loss column over the Phoenix Suns, who occupy the No. 7 seed.
In other news, Minnesota may receive positive updates regarding Anthony Edwards’ return, as the star guard has been upgraded to questionable for Monday’s game in Dallas. Edwards has been sidelined for the last six games due to a right knee injury. For him to be eligible for end-of-season accolades such as All-NBA, he must play on Monday and avoid missing any further games this regular season.
The first round of the NBA playoffs is set to commence on April 18.
