Team USA Prevails Over Switzerland, 6-5, in Shootout
CHOMUTOV, Czechia – A two-goal performance from Dylan Delgado (Weston, Fla.) along with a shorthanded goal and two shootout goals from Aiden Kelly (Rochester, Mich.) propelled the U.S. Under-17 Men’s Select Team to a 6-5 triumph over Switzerland at the 2026 Under-17 Four Nations Tournament today at Rocknet Arena.
Switzerland took the lead with 29 seconds left in the first period, as Aeneas Orlandi took advantage of a scramble in front of the U.S. goal.
Leon Vosseler extended the Swiss advantage at 5:47 of the second period, firing a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle that went over the shoulder of U.S. goalie Connor Dwyer (Bismarck, N.D.).

Delgado reduced Switzerland’s lead to one at 7:43 with a power-play goal, firing a one-timer from the top of the right circle past Swiss goalie Jan Nicolas Marti after receiving a pass from Parker Deraney (Detroit Lakes, Minn.).
Delgado netted his second goal of the match at 10:44, executing a shot from between his legs in the slot to level the score at 2-2.
Switzerland regained the lead at 17:41, as Enzo Matthey scored with a wrist shot from just outside Dwyer’s crease.
Henry Meier (Woodbury, Minn.) equalized at 3-3 just 38 seconds later, scoring on a breakaway created by an excellent pass from Jack Riehl (Mars, Pa.).
Parker Colmer (Olathe, Kan.) provided the U.S. with its first lead of the game at 12:27 of the third period, converting a rebound chance from the slot after a shot from Nikolai Zhukov (Proctor, Minn.) to give his team a 4-3 lead.
Team USA added to its tally with a shorthanded goal at 15:59, as Kelly stole the puck in the defensive zone to create a breakaway, which he successfully converted to extend the U.S. lead to 5-3.
Switzerland narrowed the gap to one at 18:29, as Vosseler took advantage of a breakaway opportunity with a shot to Dwyer’s blocker side.
Yanis Gass scored on a 5-on-3 power play with four seconds left in the third period to tie the game at 5-5, sending it into overtime.
Deraney nearly secured the overtime winner immediately after exiting the penalty box on a breakaway, but Marti denied him. The game remained tied at the conclusion of the 3-on-3 overtime period, leading to a decisive shootout.
Kelly scored twice in the shootout while Dwyer stopped four of the five attempts he faced to secure the 6-5 win.
