Jannik Sinner triumphs over Jiri Lehecka to secure victory at the Miami Open.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Jannik Sinner achieved a 6-4, 6-4 win against Jiri Lehecka to secure the Miami Open title and complete the “Sunshine Double” on Sunday, a day after Aryna Sabalenka did the same by defeating Coco Gauff.
The last male player to accomplish this double — winning Indian Wells followed by Miami in the same season — was Roger Federer in 2017. Sinner is the first male player to achieve this feat without losing a set in either tournament.
The second-seeded Sinner was undeterred by the two rain delays, each lasting 90 minutes. He recorded 10 aces in the final, totaling 70 throughout the tournament, marking the second-highest of his career. His precise, deep groundstrokes often had No. 21 Lehecka moving from side to side.
Sinner, 24, won his first 23 first-service points, a streak that continued until midway through the second set.
He became the eighth male player to win both Indian Wells and Miami, and he and Sabalenka are the first to achieve the double in the same year since Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka in 2016.
This victory marked Sinner’s second Miami Open title in three years, extending his win streak at Hard Rock Stadium to 12 matches dating back to 2024. He missed last year’s tournament due to a suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.
Lehecka, 24, was a significant underdog in his first ATP 1000 final, having lost all three previous encounters with Sinner.
Top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz was eliminated by Sebastian Korda in three sets during the third round, while Djokovic withdrew from the event due to a right shoulder injury.
The rain caused the earlier women’s doubles final to be moved to the grandstand court. The doubles title was claimed by Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova, who defeated Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini 7-6 (7-0), 6-1. Townsend and Siniakova also secured the double for women’s doubles, the first time since 2019.
