Originating in 1960 with Sam Snead as the first champion, the Par 3 Contest is a relaxed event where participants and former Masters winners compete on a nine-hole layout. Golfers frequently select family members, celebrities, spouses, or children to serve as their caddies.

While the event is meant to be fun, the players still aim for victory.

According to ESPN Research, there have been 115 holes-in-one recorded throughout the history of the contest. In 2025, three holes-in-one were achieved by Brooks Koepka, Keegan Bradley, and Tom Hoge.

There is one peculiar aspect to the celebrations — no individual who has won the Par 3 Contest has ever claimed the Masters title in the same year.
