Stephen Curry of the Warriors leaves game against the Pistons due to right knee discomfort.

SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was sidelined during the latter part of Friday night’s matchup against the Detroit Pistons due to soreness in his right knee.
Curry executed a stumbling layup with 4:28 remaining in the third quarter, completing the play despite a foul, but began to grimace and limp after the whistle, indicating discomfort in his right knee. He exited the game 20 seconds later, had a brief consultation with trainers, and then limped to the locker room.
This is not a new concern for Curry. He appeared on the team’s injury report six days prior after experiencing swelling and discomfort in his right knee following an individual workout in Minneapolis. The team categorized it as patellofemoral inflammation.
“Something flared up,” Curry stated. “It was super weird. I’ve had issues before, like with my quads, but this was something I hadn’t experienced previously.”
Curry was initially listed as questionable for the team’s Sunday game in Minneapolis and played through the injury during a victory over the Timberwolves. The Warriors opted to rest him for the Monday rematch against the Timberwolves but cleared him for the Wednesday road game against the Utah Jazz and Friday’s home game against the Pistons.
Curry recorded 23 points in 25 minutes before leaving the game. The Warriors will have three days off before continuing their schedule on Tuesday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.
