Utah Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will undergo season-ending surgery to excise a growth from his left knee, as announced by the team on Thursday.

Jackson, a two-time All-Star, will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, a source informed ESPN.

The growth, identified as pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), was detected in an MRI conducted during a physical examination following his trade to the Jazz from the Memphis Grizzlies on February 3.

Jackson, who is currently averaging 19.4 points and 5.7 rebounds this season, is scheduled to have the surgery during the All-Star break.

In his initial three games with the Jazz, Jackson has been averaging 22.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while logging 24 minutes of play. He received the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023.
