Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from the Houston Open on Tuesday, a tournament that was always uncertain for him to participate in due to his wife’s expectation of their second child.

Scheffler has finished as runner-up at the Houston Open three times, including the past two years when he made it his final event before heading to the Masters.

According to Golf Channel on Tuesday, the withdrawal is not due to any injury, confirming the upcoming birth of the couple’s second child. Matt Kuchar has taken Scheffler’s place in the field.

Scheffler’s wife, Meredith, welcomed a son named Bennett on May 8, 2024, just one week prior to the PGA Championship.

Having won the PGA Championship and the British Open last year, Scheffler started 2026 with a victory at The American Express. His run of 18 consecutive top-10 finishes, which began at last year’s Houston Open, concluded at the Genesis Invitational with a tie for 12th.

The world No. 1’s most recent tournament resulted in a tie for 22nd at The Players Championship.

Last year, Scheffler tied for second in the Houston Open, matching his own course record with an 8-under 62 during the second round and finishing just one shot behind Min Woo Lee.

Prior to his withdrawal, Scheffler was the clear betting favorite to win the event. Lee is currently the favorite at DraftKings.
