Bryson DeChambeau secures victory over Jon Rahm in LIV playoff.

MIDRAND, South Africa — Bryson DeChambeau secured his second consecutive victory by making par on the final hole with a 6-under 65, hitting a 3-wood from a challenging wet lie in the rough on the par-5 18th during a playoff to earn a birdie and overcome Jon Rahm at LIV Golf South Africa on Sunday.
This event marked DeChambeau’s last appearance before the Masters, showcasing some of his finest performance as he claimed his fifth overall title in LIV. He was victorious the previous week in Singapore.
A large crowd began to sing the national anthem as DeChambeau stood just off the 18th green, needing to get up-and-down to force a playoff with Rahm (63) and secure the team title for his Crushers over the South African-based Southern Guard.
He accomplished this, finishing at 26-under 258, which allowed him to join Rahm in the playoff.
Returning to the par-5 18th, DeChambeau’s drive veered into the mud and muck to the left of the fairway on the rain-soaked course. He was granted free relief and permitted to place the golf ball. Maintaining stability, he struck a 3-wood onto the green, landing it 12 feet from the hole.
Rahm, playing from the fairway, found himself in a bunker, from which he blasted out to just beyond 12 feet but misjudged his birdie attempt. This left DeChambeau with two putts to secure the win, and he left his eagle putt just inches short.
DeChambeau becomes the third player to achieve at least five LIV victories, joining JoaquΓn Niemann (seven) and Brooks Koepka (five), who has returned to the PGA Tour.
