Chelsea’s head coach Liam Rosenior stated that there is no value in addressing “unrealistic” claims regarding Cole Palmer’s desire to join Manchester United.

Rumors have surfaced suggesting that the 23-year-old is feeling discontent at Stamford Bridge and is considering a move to the club he supported during his youth, as he navigates a challenging period in west London.

With just four Premier League goals this season and visible frustration evident in his demeanor on the field, his situation has worsened from a time when Palmer appeared to be the driving force behind the team’s progress.

Injury has significantly impacted his season, especially as Chelsea has been cautious about the playing time of key squad members during their recovery phases.

“There’s no reason for concern,” Rosenior remarked. “It’s completely unrealistic. It has come out of nowhere. There is nothing to it. There is no reason to engage in this conversation. That’s my stance.

“Cole is very content. I have had multiple discussions with him. Our focus is on how we can enhance this team, how he can develop, and how I can assist him.

“He enjoys being here and he wants to remain a Chelsea player. Speculation is unavoidable, but some of it is far from the truth. There is no reason to discuss it.”

Palmer has traveled with the team to Italy in preparation for their crucial Champions League clash with Napoli on Wednesday, having not been included in the squad for Sunday’s 3-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Rosenior has secured four victories in his five matches since taking over, providing a strong rebuttal to critics who suggested he lacked the experience necessary to succeed Enzo Maresca.

Despite the positive results, he has faced ongoing inquiries regarding the futures of certain players, particularly Palmer, who was the subject of questions in Naples.

“I’m not surprised by the timing,” Rosenior noted. “When a new manager arrives, there are suddenly players who seem unsettled. That’s not accurate. Cole is here, he’s very happy, and I look forward to seeing him back on the pitch.”

Reports indicate that Raheem Sterling’s uncertain situation could be resolved as soon as Monday’s transfer deadline, more than 18 months after he last featured for the club, with Chelsea prepared to facilitate his departure.

Rosenior commented: “Raheem is a player I hold in high regard. I have immense respect for him as a person and for what he has accomplished in the sport. Now is not the appropriate time to discuss his situation.”

Chelsea requires a victory to nearly ensure they avoid the playoff round in February and advance directly to the round of 16, although they must first overcome their former manager Antonio Conte.

“This is a very strong team,” Rosenior stated. “I believe it would have been unfortunate in the recent matches they played. The results have not reflected the performances that Antonio’s team has delivered.

“We understand it will be a very challenging game in a unique atmosphere. It does not alter my plans at all, as I have been preparing for a very tough match.”
