U.S. Squad for 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase Revealed
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey has extended invitations to 48 players — comprising five goaltenders, 16 defensemen, and 27 forwards — to take part in the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, scheduled for July 26-Aug. 1 at WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario.
The World Junior Summer Showcase, featuring teams from Canada, Finland, and Sweden, acts as an assessment for players aiming to secure spots on their national teams for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will take place from Dec. 26, 2026, to Jan. 5, 2027, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
This week-long event will consist of 10 international matches. The 48 U.S. players will initially be divided into two squads: Team Blue and Team White, with each team competing on July 26 and 27. The roster features nine first-round NHL Draft selections, including top-10 picks Chase Reid (Chesterfield, Mich./2026, Seattle Kraken, 7th overall) and Wyatt Cullen (Moorhead, Minn./2026, Nashville Predators, 10th overall). Overall, 42 of the 48 selected players have been drafted by NHL teams.
Three members of the 2026 U.S. National Junior Team are anticipated to participate in the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase: forward Will Horcoff (Birmingham, Mich.), goaltender Brady Knowling (Chicago, Ill.), and defenseman Reid.

Minnesota leads with 13 players, followed by Michigan (6), New York (5), Illinois (4), California (3), Pennsylvania (3), Massachusetts (3), Texas (2), Arizona (1), Colorado (1), Maine (1), Maryland (1), New Hampshire (1), North Carolina (1), South Dakota (1), Utah (1), and Wisconsin (1) … A total of 20 different NHL teams are represented among the invited players … John Vanbiesbrouck (Detroit, Mich./USA Hockey) is the general manager of the U.S. National Junior Team for the ninth consecutive year while Adam Nightingale (Cheboygan, Mich./Michigan State University) is serving as head coach … The U.S. has secured two gold medals in the last three World Juniors and has medaled in eight of the last 11 IIHF World Junior Championships.
