53 U.S. Players Chosen in 2026 NHL Draft
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A total of 53 players from the United States were chosen in the 2026 NHL Draft held at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., including 14 participants from USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program.
The first round, conducted yesterday (June 26), featured five American selections. Chase Reid (Chesterfield, Mich.) was the first American selected, going 7th overall to the Seattle Kraken. Wyatt Cullen (Moorhead, Minn.) followed as the second American chosen and the first from USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, being picked 10th overall by the Nashville Predators. JP Hurlbert (Allen, Texas) was the next American selected, going 23rd overall to the Detroit Red Wings. The Calgary Flames selected Jack Hextall (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) 30th overall, and shortly after, Tommy Bleyl (Schenectady, N.Y.) was chosen by Nashville with the 31st pick.
Five Americans were selected in the second round. The Vancouver Canucks began the second day of the Draft by choosing Brooks Rogowski (Brighton, Mich.) with the 33rd overall pick. Casey Mutryn (Norwell, Mass.) was taken 38th overall by the Seattle Kraken, followed by Jayden Kurtz (Rogers, Minn.), who was selected 45th overall by the Anaheim Ducks. The Detroit Red Wings picked Victor Plante (Hermantown, Minn.) 47th overall, and Timofei Runtso (Marina del Rey, Calif.) was chosen 57th overall by the Montreal Canadiens.
Six Americans were picked in the third round, and 10 were chosen in the fourth round. The fifth round saw seven Americans selected, with nine taken in the sixth round and 11 in the seventh to conclude the draft.

NOTES: A total of 23 American draft selections participated in the 2025-26 season in the USHL, the premier junior hockey league in the United States … The American players drafted represent 16 different states, including Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington … Nine players who were full-time members of USA Hockey’s NTDP this season were selected.
