Charlie Woods announces intention to join Florida State’s golf team in 2027.

Charlie Woods, the offspring of 15-time major titleholder Tiger Woods, has made a verbal commitment to join the golf program at Florida State, becoming part of the 2027 recruiting class.
Woods, currently a junior at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, surged to 21st place in the Rolex American Junior Golf Association rankings after securing victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational with a total score of 15-under 201 over 54 holes last May. Prior to this achievement, he was positioned at 604th in the rankings.
He finished tied for ninth at the Boys Junior PGA Championship in July and placed 18th at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in November. Additionally, Woods contributed to The Benjamin School’s success in winning a Florida High School Athletic Association Class A state championship in November, shooting a final round score of 4-under 68.
By choosing the Seminoles, Charlie Woods opted not to replicate his father’s path, who played two seasons at Stanford before turning professional in August 1996.
Tiger Woods’ daughter, Sam, is currently a freshman at Stanford.
“The recruiting process has been quite different,” Tiger Woods remarked at the Hero World Challenge in December. “Today, we have cell phones. In our time, we relied on written letters that would arrive in the mailbox. The speed at which coaches can now communicate with players and their families is significantly different.
“It’s a different environment. I’m not suggesting it’s better or worse, just different.”
Seminoles coach Trey Jones, entering his 23rd season, has also secured a commitment from Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, who holds the top position in the Rolex AJGA rankings.
Florida State finished as the runner-up at the 2024 NCAAs, where PGA Tour golfer Luke Clanton was a finalist for the Fred Haskins and Jack Nicklaus awards, recognizing the top collegiate golfer in the nation.
Jones has previously coached five-time major champion Brooks Koepka and PGA Tour player Daniel Berger.
