Augusta National comments on Jason Day’s attire for the Masters.

A year after being requested by Augusta National to adopt a more subdued wardrobe at the Masters, Jason Day may once again be causing a stir with his fashion selections this week.
The Australian former world No. 1, who transitioned from Nike to Malbon Golf in early 2024, has reportedly already been asked to modify some of his attire after the company revealed his selections for this week’s event.
On Monday, Day showcased the first piece from Malbon Golf’s “Birds of Georgia” collection, featuring a distinctly vibrant bird-themed top. It was intended to be paired with matching trousers, but Sports Illustrated reported earlier this week that Augusta National rejected that plan and requested Day to opt for solid-colored pants instead.
The other tops scheduled for the week, including those for practice rounds, feature one with a birdwatcher-themed vest.

Sungjae Im is also sponsored by Malbon and will don the bird print, which the company states includes scarlet tanagers, orioles, eastern bluebirds, cardinals, blue jays, golden finches, and red-headed woodpeckers.
“If you are on the course and you are in tune with nature and recognize the sounds of birds, you’ll achieve more birdies,” founder Stephen Malbon told Sports Illustrated. “It’s inspired by Native American beliefs. Each of these birds carries a different significance. I’ve been sending the sounds of the birds to Jason for the past six months. Hopefully, he’s trying to remain connected with nature.”
Day first garnered attention for his Masters outfits after joining Malbon Golf in 2024. That year, he wore loose blue trousers and a striking sweater vest that displayed “No. 313. Malbon Golf Championship” in large block letters across the front when he appeared on Friday to complete his first round alongside Tiger Woods.
When he returned for the second round later that day, the vest was absent. He later mentioned that tournament officials had requested he remove the garment, and he complied, stating he did not wish to be a distraction.
Day finished as the runner-up in his Masters debut in 2011, and this week marks his 15th appearance at Augusta National.
