Wrexham’s aspirations for the Premier League remain ‘intact’ following crucial victory.

Wrexham’s manager Phil Parkinson stated that the club’s aspiration for the Premier League is “still alive” after they secured a victory at Oxford, returning to the Championship playoff spots.
Josh Windass netted five minutes before halftime, securing a hard-earned 1-0 win for Wrexham and pushing Oxford closer to relegation.

Wrexham has moved ahead of Hull, who played to a 2-2 draw at Leicester, into sixth place and is now tied on 70 points with the Tigers, holding a goal difference that is two goals better.
The team’s chances of reaching the playoffsβand potentially achieving a historic fourth consecutive promotionβnow hinge on upcoming matches against champions Coventry and fifth-placed Middlesbrough.
“The [Premier League] dream is still alive and we feel we’re in a good position,” Parkinson remarked.
“Thereβs nothing more we can do than win, and we focused on making the right decisions from the bench to secure another three points.
“Achieving 70 points is a strong statement in our first season in the Championship, and now we aim for more. It was crucial that we performed our duties, and we did that collectively.”
Top scorer Windass’ fifth goal in six matches came during a tense first half where Wrexham created more opportunities.
In the second half, they had to withstand pressure, especially in the last 20 minutes, as Oxford launched balls and players into the box.
“We demonstrated two aspects of our game,” Parkinson noted. “In the first half, we maintained good control, were patient, and managed the ball well.
“The moment arrived, and we had opportunities in the second half, but we anticipated that Oxford would take risks. They are battling for survival.
“With long throws, set pieces, we defended as a unit. Everyone fulfilled their role.”
