Thomas Frank 'confident' he will remain Spurs manager for match against Arsenal 1

Tottenham’s head coach Thomas Frank expressed his belief that he will continue to lead the team into the north London derby against Arsenal, despite calls from Spurs supporters for his dismissal during Tuesday’s 2-1 home loss to Newcastle.

Frank faced chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” alongside fans singing the name of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs recorded their 11th defeat in the Premier League this season.

Although Archie Gray equalized Malick Thiaw’s opening goal in first-half stoppage time, Jacob Ramsey netted a winner in the 68th minute, a goal Newcastle thoroughly earned, leaving Tottenham in 16th place, just five points clear of the relegation zone. Spurs were met with boos at both half-time and full-time.

Following their early exit from the FA Cup, Spurs now face a 12-day wait until their next match, which is against fierce rivals and league leaders Arsenal.

When asked if he would still be in charge for the game against the Gunners, Frank replied: “Yeah, I’m convinced I will be.”

“I understand the question; it’s easy to point fingers at me, but it is never solely the head coach, or the ownership, or the directors, or the players, or the staff; it involves everyone.”

“If we do things correctly, we can establish something enduring. Of course, we are not in a favorable position right now. Everyone is aware—directors, ownership, myself—of our current standing and what we need to improve. That is what we are diligently working on.”

Currently, Spurs have 10 players sidelined due to injuries, in addition to captain Cristian Romero, who is serving a four-match suspension after receiving his second red card of the season in last weekend’s loss to Manchester United.

They lost Wilson Odobert to a knee injury in the first half against Newcastle, and Frank emphasized that the injury situation should be a significant factor when evaluating their current performance.

Spurs have secured only two victories in their last 17 league matches, accumulating 12 points during that span.

“[I’m] 1000% sure [I’m the right man to lead Tottenham],” he stated. “I’m also 1000% certain that I never anticipated being in a situation like this with 11 or 12 injuries affecting us and what we have been confronting.”

“I understand that when you need to build something and navigate through challenges, you must demonstrate exceptional resilience.”

“It is fair to say that there have been several before me in this position, not just at Tottenham but at many other clubs, who have lost their composure numerous times. I believe it is essential to maintain a calm demeanor, continue fighting, do the right things, and ensure we remain united because we can only overcome this together. That includes the board, the leaders, the players, the staff, myself, and the fans. We can only get through this together.”
