Rap icon and Swansea City stakeholder Snoop Dogg has expressed his desire to return the club to the Premier League and establish it as a “global name.”

The 54-year-old has been associated with the Welsh team since last summer, when he assisted in launching their kit and became an investor alongside Luka Modric.

In an interview with WalesOnline, the 54-year-old stated: “I want to be very involved; I aim to guide the club in a direction it may not have explored before.”

“Our goal is to elevate Swansea to the Premier League, and achieving that will require financial investment — that’s the reality of modern football.”

“I intend to bring in sponsorship agreements and marketing efforts that will help them become a global name.”

American entrepreneur Martha Stewart also joined Snoop Dogg and Modric as an investor last month.

“It has to be the right match,” he remarked.

“I have invested, Martha has invested, and my friend Luka has invested.”

“It needs to be someone who can contribute more than just funds. Are they bringing soccer expertise, connections, a global presence that draws attention and revenue — you must offer something to have a place at this table.”

The musician has not yet met the supporters at the South Wales club, but indicated that it is a significant priority for him.

“I genuinely want to connect with the fans; they are a major reason I chose to invest in the team.”

“I always knew I wanted to invest in a soccer team — it has been a long-held dream of mine, and it was about waiting for the right opportunity.”

“These fans are passionate and authentic, and I want to listen to their thoughts when I am in Swansea.”

Swansea last competed in the UK’s top division from 2011 to 2018 and came closest to regaining promotion in 2021, when they lost 2-0 to Brentford in the Championship playoff final before a limited crowd at Wembley.

“It’s been a steady process, and while Swansea is a long-term project, we still need to aspire for this season,” Snoop clarified, referring to Swansea’s mid-table standing in a tightly contested Championship.

“In the Championship, you must always believe that the playoff spot is attainable; in this sport, you have to dream.”
