Sir Jim Ratcliffe: Michael Carrick performing ‘very well’ but declines to clarify his future at Manchester United.

Michael Carrick has received support from Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, although he did not specify whether the manager’s tenure would be prolonged.
Carrick was appointed as United’s manager until the conclusion of this season following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
He has guided the team to third place in the Premier League standings, with a chance for qualification for the upcoming Champions League now within reach.
Despite suffering his first defeat against Newcastle United in the previous match, Carrick’s efforts have been commended by Ratcliffe.
“He’s doing an excellent job. Yeah, absolutely,” Ratcliffe stated to Sky Sports News.
Nonetheless, Ratcliffe refrained from endorsing Carrick for an extended term.
“Not going there,” he remarked.
The club’s co-owner acknowledged that he is focused on securing Champions League qualification.
“Yes, clearly we’re thinking about that,” Ratcliffe mentioned. “But there’s still seven or eight games to go. Still a while yet.”
Carrick has made a positive impression at United with his composure in media interactions and his ability to handle the pressures of the role, but sources have informed ESPN that there is no immediate urgency to offer him a longer contract.
His profile as a manager has grown, and he would have various options available should he decide to leave Old Trafford, sources also indicated to ESPN.

Carrick’s United will face Aston Villa on Sunday as they continue their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
He stated: “It’s a tough league. Most teams, if not every team, has experienced that in recent times, so it’s important to keep things in perspective and shape them in a way that allows us to improve.
“We’ve gained a lot of confidence from [recent matches] as a group and what we can achieve and how we perform.
“It’s a crucial game, there’s no denying that. It’s a fantastic match.
“We’ve positioned ourselves now where there’s a great deal at stake, so we are really embracing the situation and looking forward to the next game.”
