Rio Ngumoha seeks increased playing time following impactful appearance for Liverpool.

Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha expressed optimism about gaining additional Premier League playing time following his notable appearance against Nottingham Forest over the weekend.
The young player — who made history as Liverpool’s youngest goalscorer when he scored the decisive goal against Newcastle United earlier this season — was brought on as a substitute in the 77th minute at the City Ground and played a key role in altering the match for Liverpool, who secured a 1-0 win with a late goal from Alexis Mac Allister.
“I understand that I need to make an impact on the game, whether that’s with the ball or without it,” Ngumoha stated.
“This could involve making a tackle, pressing to regain possession, delivering crosses, taking shots on goal, or simply getting past my opponent.
“I believe that every time I am called upon for the team, I want to demonstrate my abilities. I hope to receive more playing time soon, and I will continue to work hard to earn the manager’s confidence, which I hope will result in increased minutes.”
Ngumoha has accumulated 89 minutes in the Premier League this season — significantly the highest for any player under 18 in the league this year. However, with both Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo facing challenges in scoring, there have been suggestions for the teenager to be given more chances in the first team by head coach Arne Slot.
“I feel that if you are not getting enough playing time, you can become stagnant, so I am eager to gain more minutes — whether that’s with the under-18s or under-21s — I am still very young, so I am ready to play, and I will participate in any games available,” Ngumoha remarked.

“The manager plays a crucial role for me and provides significant support. We may have a discussion after training where he informs me about my progress and encourages me to keep pushing, showing me video clips. All of this is valuable and beneficial.
“I believe things have been going very well. I am gaining a lot of knowledge each day by training and playing with some of the top players in the world. As a young player, I couldn’t ask for more. Therefore, I think I need to continue improving, working diligently in training, and showcasing my capabilities to the manager.”
