Mohamed Salah sidelined for Liverpool’s quarterfinal match against PSG.

PARIS — Mohamed Salah has faced consequences for Liverpool’s 4-0 FA Cup loss to Manchester City, resulting in his exclusion from Arne Slot’s lineup for the Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Salah, 33, was taken off in the 77th minute during Saturday’s defeat at the Etihad after failing to convert a clear opportunity in the first half and having a penalty saved by City goalkeeper James Trafford later in the match.

With the Champions League being the sole remaining chance for silverware for Slot’s squad this season, the Liverpool coach has chosen to field former Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong on the right flank against the European champions at Parc des Princes.
Florian Wirtz, who was also substituted during a lackluster display against City, retains his position in the Liverpool lineup, while Alexis Mac Allister returns to the midfield in place of Curtis Jones.
Egypt international Salah declared during the recent international break that he intends to leave Liverpool at the conclusion of the season, despite having a year left on his Β£400,000-a-week contract at Anfield.
The former Chelsea, Fiorentina, and Roma forward was omitted by Slot for December’s Champions League match away to Inter Milan after expressing that he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club this season.
Salah has been a consistent starter for Liverpool since his return from Africa Cup of Nations duty in January, but Slot has opted to begin the match with the forward on the bench in Paris.
