Mohamed Salah is in a race against time to recover for Liverpool’s FA Cup quarterfinal against Manchester City early next month, following a muscle injury that has sidelined him until after the international break.

This presents a challenge for head coach Arne Slot, as the Egypt international had found the net in three of his last four appearances, matching his total from the previous 14 matches, and had delivered one of his standout performances of the season in the Champions League victory over Galatasaray.

However, during Wednesday night’s match, the 33-year-old signaled to the bench to be substituted after netting a signature goal, indicating potential concerns.

“Indeed, unusual and as a result of that you can expect the outcome: he’s not available for tomorrow,” Slot stated prior to their match against Brighton.

“The positive aspect for Liverpool is that we are heading into an international break, while the unfortunate aspect for Egypt is that he will not be able to participate there.

“We are optimistic that, based on Mo’s past experiences, he may recover more quickly than others in similar situations due to his diligent care for his body.

“History has indicated he can return sooner than some, but with only two weeks until we play again, we hope he can make a comeback during that time.”
