Manchester United anticipates the completion of a new stadium in the next six years.

Manchester United is optimistic about the potential opening of their planned new stadium within the next six years, according to the CEO of stadium development.
The club revealed designs for a new 100,000-seat stadium in March 2025.

Since then, there has been minimal public advancement, although the Β£2 billion initiative has progressed “behind the scenes,” as stated by stadium development CEO Collette Roche.
The club anticipates that once the necessary land and funding are secured, the construction of the stadium will take approximately “four to five years.”
Roche emphasizes that the goal has consistently been to have the stadium operational before the 2032-33 season at the latest.
“When we introduced the concept of a new stadium a year ago, we mentioned it would take between four and five years for construction, and that remains accurate,” Roche remarked.
“However, some may interpret that as us potentially having the stadium ready by 2030. But as you are aware, with a stadium project as intricate as the one we are about to undertake, it requires one or two years to prepare for construction.
“This includes assembling the land, securing funding, and obtaining planning permission. That is the phase we are currently in. While we have not set a specific opening date, we are progressing according to those timelines.”
Although the new stadium is planned to be constructed on the Old Trafford site, the club needs additional surrounding land for the project.
Discussions with rail freight and logistics company Freightliner have been particularly challenging, but Roche indicated that the club is hopeful of making an announcement “in the next few months” following encouraging discussions.
“Some of the progress we have made includes, first and foremost, land assembly,” Roche stated.
“We aim to ensure we secure the best possible location for this stadium, one that has ample land surrounding it to incorporate the appropriate facilities, one that is well-connected and provides an excellent match day experience.
“I have been dedicating significant time to engaging with local landowners to identify the optimal location, and we are making substantial progress in that regard. I hope to share some positive updates on that front in the coming months.”
