Liverpool faces PSG: Mohamed Salah sidelined once more in Champions League quarterfinal 1

Mohamed Salah has been placed on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg match against Paris Saint-Germain.

The 33-year-old was also not part of Arne Slot’s starting lineup during Liverpool’s 2-0 loss in the first leg last week and remained on the bench in the French capital despite the team’s requirement for goals.

Salah — who is expected to depart the club at the conclusion of the season — netted his first Premier League goal at Anfield since November with his effort against Fulham on Saturday.

However, the Egypt international has once again been excluded from the starting eleven against Luis Enrique’s team, with Alexander Isak leading the attack alongside Hugo Ekitike.

This will mark Isak’s first start for Liverpool since the 1-0 win over Inter Milan in December, with the £125 million (£169.6m) forward still regaining full fitness after being sidelined for 100 days due to a broken leg and ankle.

In other news, Florian Wirtz is expected to start in midfield alongside Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch, while Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong will join Ibrahima Konaté and captain Virgil van Dijk in the defensive line.

Giorgi Mamardashvili continues to fill in as goalkeeper for the injured Alisson Becker, with teenage forward Rio Ngumoha — who scored the opening goal against Fulham — moving to the bench.
