Leicester City terminates Marti Cifuentes’ contract as the team sits in 14th position.

Leicester City has terminated the contract of manager Marti Cifuentes after a tenure of just over six months.
Cifuentes took over from Ruud van Nistelrooy in July after his exit from QPR, and the Foxes are now in search of their seventh permanent manager in a span of slightly more than two-and-a-half years.
First-team coach Andy King has been appointed as the interim manager, as announced by the club.
Leicester’s 2-1 loss at home to Oxford on Saturday marked their 11th defeat in the Sky Bet Championship this season, leaving them six points behind the playoff positions in 14th place.
The club disclosed Cifuentes’ departure in a statement on their official website, with chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha indicating that a “difficult” decision was made in the best interests of the Foxes.
Srivaddhanaprabha stated: “This has been a challenging decision and not one I have made lightly. I want to express my gratitude to Marti for the complete dedication he has demonstrated during his time at Leicester City.
“He devoted himself fully to the role and worked diligently to help us meet our objectives.
“However, I believe this is the appropriate action at this moment to enhance performances and results, and to act in the best interests of Leicester City Football Club. Marti departs with our appreciation and our best wishes for his future endeavors.”
Leicester faced charges for violating EFL financial regulations in May of the previous year and may be subject to a points deduction.
The Foxes have struggled to mount a promotion challenge following their relegation from the Premier League in 2023, and the club has been unable to bolster their squad in the last two transfer windows.
