Erling Haaland mentioned that his partner “isn’t pleased” regarding the number of marks on his body following the physical confrontations with Premier League defenders.

The Norwegian forward and Arsenal defender Gabriel were engaged in several disputes during Manchester City’s 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend.

At one moment, Haaland had to take off his ripped undershirt.

Pep Guardiola has urged referees to be more stringent in penalizing the grappling that Haaland endures in most matches.

However, City’s No.9 believes he will likely never receive additional protection, which may lead to further inquiries from his long-term partner, Isabel.

“I think my shirt got a bit tugged!” Haaland remarked regarding his encounters with Gabriel.

“I didn’t receive the foul; this is the Premier League today. It’s wrestling here and there. Numerous duels. A lot of scratches. Occasionally, my partner is not so pleased about this; it appears a bit off! But that’s the reality.”

Gabriel was fortunate not to be dismissed at the Etihad after he pushed his head into Haaland when the two confronted each other in the second half.

“I believe that is a red card; most of you would agree with me on this,” Haaland stated.

“If I go down, it’s a red card. I would never do that.

“My father taught me this — stay on your feet and don’t be a… it starts with P. That’s the reality. Perhaps I should have gone down; maybe it would have been easier, but I didn’t, and I received a yellow card for it.”

Having narrowed the gap with Arsenal to three points, City can ascend to the top if they defeat Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

It is possible that the title could be determined by goal difference. However, Haaland emphasizes that City should not become preoccupied with trying to outscore Mikel Arteta’s team.

“You can’t dwell on this,” he stated.

“It’s Burnley. You cannot approach a match thinking you need to win by three, four, or five.

“We are fully aware of the situation. We’re still in second place, and we play on Wednesday.

“We cannot focus too much on Arsenal. In recent seasons, they have fallen short. For now, they are first, and they remain there; they have been the best team this season.

“I prefer not to discuss them too much because they are an exceptional team, and we should concentrate on ourselves.”
