Cristhian Mosquera is confident that his choice to leave his childhood club Valencia for Arsenal last summer was the correct one for his career.

Since his £13m transfer, the 21-year-old has made 25 appearances for the leaders of the Premier League.

The defender made his senior debut for Spain in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Serbia.

“I had spent nearly my entire life in Valencia, and departing from what has been your home is challenging, but it was the right choice,” Mosquera stated to Europa Press.

“I’m very content in London and have adapted much faster than I anticipated. We all recognize that the Premier League is a highly physically demanding league, and I was already aware of that; many people had informed me that, considering my playing style, I would be well-suited for the Premier League.

“I believe that when the moment arrived for me to step up and demonstrate my abilities, I performed well.”

Mosquera mentions that he is learning from top players, training at Arsenal alongside Brazil’s Gabriel Magalhães and France’s William Saliba.

“From the very first day, both of them have been there for me, offering guidance and always looking out for me, like parents or older siblings,” he remarked. “I am very thankful to them. They are among the best centre-backs globally, and it is both a pleasure and a privilege to train with them and observe their performances every weekend.”

Despite the recent defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, Arsenal has much to anticipate.

How Arsenal’s men’s and women’s teams can achieve Champions League history this season

Mikel Arteta’s team holds a nine-point lead over City in the league standings, although Pep Guardiola’s squad has a game in hand.

Arsenal is set to face Southampton in the FA Cup quarterfinals on April 4 before competing against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League quarterfinals.

“In recent years, Arsenal hasn’t fully accomplished its goals, but I believe we are prepared this year,” Mosquera expressed. “We understand we have the opportunity to win titles. We will do everything possible to bring happiness to the fans. In the Champions League, I think we are performing quite well this year — we are now in the quarter-finals — and hopefully, we can advance further and win it.”

Mosquera also aims to be part of Spain’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

“What I’m experiencing is incredible, so I need to take full advantage of it,” he stated.

“Only God knows if I will have the opportunity to be on that list, but I believe every player representing their country dreams of attending the World Cup.”
