Bournemouth nearing agreement with Marco Rose to succeed Andoni Iraola – sources

Bournemouth is nearing an agreement with Marco Rose to become their new manager, according to sources who spoke with ESPN.
Andoni Iraola announced on Monday that he would depart Bournemouth at the conclusion of the season, and sources indicated to ESPN that both Rose and Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna were being considered as potential successors.
McKenna is contracted with Ipswich until 2028, while Rose is available after leaving RB Leipzig last year. Both candidates are highly regarded by the Bournemouth leadership, but Rose seems to have emerged as their favored choice.
Sources have informed ESPN that the club is currently negotiating personal terms with Rose. He brings extensive experience from his time coaching RB Salzburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and Leipzig.
Iraola joined Bournemouth in June 2023 and has garnered significant praise for his performance in the role.
On Friday, he expressed uncertainty about his next steps, clarifying that he has not left Bournemouth with another position secured. The 43-year-old has been linked to the upcoming vacancy at Athletic Club in Bilbao, and other Premier League clubs are also reportedly interested in his services.

“It hasn’t been a clear decision,” Iraola stated on Friday. “I’ve been discussing the situation with the club, and they were aware this could occur. There isn’t one primary reason. The decision was made because I don’t want to jeopardize the sense of satisfaction I have from the three seasons here.
“As human beings, we can become fatigued, and I felt it was the appropriate time to conclude this journey, which has been truly special for me.”
Rose, 49, favors a high-intensity pressing approach, and the prospect of maintaining a system similar to Iraola’s is appealing to Bournemouth.
He also has experience coaching a club in the Champions League, and there is optimism that the agreement will be finalized in the coming days.
