Bernardo Silva has vowed to continue striving until the end as he seeks further success with Manchester City.

City remains in the hunt for four trophies this season and secured their spot in the Champions League last 16 with a 2-0 win against Galatasaray on Wednesday.

The veteran Silva is in the last year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and has not disclosed his future intentions.

However, if this ninth season with the club turns out to be his final one, the Portugal international is committed to making it memorable.

“I’m enjoying this season,” stated the 31-year-old, whose achievements with City already encompass six Premier League titles and a Champions League victory.

“I’m striving to give my all for the club that has allowed me to be here for such a long time and to accomplish what I have.”

“Until the end, I will be here fighting for the club and for the supporters.”

City’s win in their last league phase match, achieved with first-half goals from Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki, propelled them to eighth in the standings and ensured they avoid the play-off round next month.

However, they faced a tense wait after the final whistle before their position was confirmed, as Real Madrid—the only team that could potentially surpass them—were still competing against Benfica.

At that moment, a Real equalizer, in a match where they were trailing 3-2 heading into stoppage time, would have resulted in an additional two-legged tie for City next month.

In a thrilling conclusion, it was Silva’s former club Benfica who scored again, saving themselves from elimination.

“There was quite a bit of drama in the dressing room in the last two, three minutes,” Silva remarked.

“We’re just very pleased because we aimed to qualify in the top eight. It was our primary objective to avoid those two extra matches.”

“With this schedule, it was crucial to achieve that. We need to recover some players to arrive in the final two, three months of the season with everyone fit.”

“It will be very beneficial to have those two full weeks to concentrate on other competitions.”

City has been affected by injuries over the past month and faced another setback on Wednesday as winger Jérémy Doku exited with a calf issue.
