Arne Slot has acknowledged that he does not foresee Liverpool making any acquisitions during the January transfer window, although he mentioned that the club will consistently seek opportunities in the market.

Last summer, Liverpool set the British transfer record twice, investing nearly £450 million ($609m) on new players.

Nonetheless, prolonged injuries to striker Alexander Isak and defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni have left the Premier League champions with limited options in both offense and defense as they approach the latter half of the season.

In spite of their injury challenges, Slot does not expect any new arrivals before the window closes on February 2 unless the right player becomes available.

“That is what I expect,” Slot stated.

“However, I always mention that when there is an opportunity in the market where we believe we can enhance the squad, this club will always strive to do so. But at this moment, I anticipate it will remain largely unchanged.”

Liverpool achieved a notable victory over Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday night and will resume Premier League play when they visit Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Reds currently sit fourth in the standings, though there is only a four-point gap between them and Everton in 10th place.

When asked about his confidence in his team’s ability to secure Champions League qualification this season, Slot remarked: “I am very confident because I work with these players every single day and I see the qualities they possess. However, it is always challenging to predict the future. If these players remain available, I believe we are in a very strong position.

“Yet, injuries can occur unexpectedly in football. I did not anticipate being without Giovanni Leoni, Alexander Isak, and Conor Bradley for such an extended period. Nevertheless, I think these teams have demonstrated many times that if they are available and fit, we can compete effectively against any team globally.

“So, I have a lot of confidence looking ahead, but fitness is, of course, difficult to forecast. Even if we sustain injuries, we will still be capable of competing.”
