Alexander Isak returns to training, providing Liverpool with a positive development.

LIVERPOOL, England — In a positive development for both Liverpool and Sweden, striker Alexander Isak is set to resume team training on Thursday.
Isak’s comeback from a fractured ankle and fibula coincides with Liverpool’s pursuit of a Champions League position and Sweden’s celebration of their World Cup qualification.

Isak underwent surgery to mend the injuries he incurred during a tackle in a match against Tottenham on December 20.
“Having him back in a team that typically creates numerous chances — and perhaps not right from the outset when he can start — but to have him available for the final two months is, I believe, very beneficial for us,” Liverpool coach Arne Slot stated to club media on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Isak transferred to Liverpool for a British-record fee of Β£125 million ($170m) following extended discussions with Newcastle.
Slot remarked: “Alex is in an excellent position because Sweden secured their World Cup qualification yesterday evening, and in addition to that, he will train with the group again for the first time tomorrow.”
Sweden was among the last teams to secure a place in this summer’s World Cup. The Swedes confirmed their qualification on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over Poland in a European playoff final.
