Maccabi Tel Aviv signed German big man Daniel Theis, who departed AS Monaco this summer, with high expectations. However, the move has quickly evolved into a crisis within the club.

According to the Israeli outlet Walla Sport, Maccabi Tel Aviv wishes to part ways with Daniel Theis. The club would reportedly consent to his departure if another team assumes his contract.

The 34-year-old German big man signed a two-year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer. Earning approximately $2.2 million annually, he is the team’s highest-paid player.

The experienced player, who joined the club this summer amid high expectations, has fallen short with his performances thus far. Additionally, Theis did not play a single minute in Maccabi’s last two EuroLeague games.

This season, Daniel Theis has appeared in seven EuroLeague games for Maccabi Tel Aviv, averaging 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
