PARIS — Ugo Humbert has withdrawn from representing France in an upcoming Davis Cup match next month to focus on forthcoming tournaments.

Humbert indicated that the choice to miss France’s first-round qualifier at home against Slovakia on Feb. 7-8 was influenced by the upcoming indoor tournaments.

“After consulting with my team, I’ve made the tough decision to not take part in the next Davis Cup tie,” Humbert shared on Instagram on Saturday. “To address this initial part of the season and achieve my objectives, I’ve opted to concentrate on the upcoming tournaments, particularly on indoor hard courts.”

Next month, there are indoor tournaments scheduled on the ATP Tour in Montpellier and Rotterdam, followed by outdoor hard court events in Doha and Dubai.

The No. 33-ranked Humbert performs well on indoor hard courts. A powerful server with a strong two-handed backhand, Humbert has secured four of his seven career titles indoors and had a notable run to the Paris Masters final in 2024.

Humbert faced eighth-seeded Ben Shelton in the first round of the Australian Open this week, where he was defeated.
