British teenager Mika Stojsavljevic achieves significant upset in Billie Jean King Cup.

British teenager Mika Stojsavljevic achieved a significant upset against Australia’s Talia Gibson during her Billie Jean King Cup debut in Melbourne.
Stojsavljevic, 17, triumphed with a score of 7-6(4) 7-5, overcoming a gap of 219 positions in the WTA rankings.
The 2024 US Open junior champion provided Great Britain with an ideal start in the qualifiers as Anne Keothavong’s team aims to advance without Emma Raducanu, Sonay Kartal, Katie Boulter, and Fran Jones.

Stojsavljevic jumped to a 3-1 lead early but required a tie-break to secure the first set and successfully defended five break points before finishing a fluctuating second set that featured five breaks of serve.
“It feels amazing. I can’t believe it. I can’t even remember the last point,” Stojsavljevic remarked. “I had incredible support from the side and managed to get through.”
