MILAN – Megan Keller (Farmington Hills, Mich./Boston Fleet) netted the decisive overtime goal as the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team triumphed over Canada, 2-1, securing the gold medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games held at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
This victory allowed Team USA to finish the tournament unbeaten with a record of 6-1-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L), outscoring their opponents 33-2 across seven matches. Today’s win marked the U.S.’s first journey to Olympic gold without a defeat since 1998.
“Achieving gold here in Milan was our ultimate objective, and our team fought tirelessly to turn that into a reality,” stated John Wroblewski (Neenah, Wis.), head coach of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Women’s Hockey Team. “From our experienced leaders to our first-time Olympians, this squad united to achieve something beyond themselves. I couldn’t be prouder.”
U.S. goaltender Aerin Frankel (Chappaqua, N.Y./Boston Fleet) thwarted a significant Canadian chance with 6:40 remaining in the first period, moving across her crease to block a close-range shot.
Canada opened the scoring just 54 seconds into the second period, as Kristin O’Neill capitalized on a shorthanded two-on-one break.
