MILAN – Hannah Bilka (Coppell, Texas/Seattle Torrent) netted two goals as the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team triumphed over Canada, 5-0, in their final preliminary round match at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games held at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
Team USA concluded the preliminary round in first place in Group A with an unblemished record of 4-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and outscored their opponents 20-1. The U.S. has not allowed a goal in the last 211:23 of play and has achieved three consecutive shutouts as they advance to the quarterfinals.
“This group continues to develop, and the leadership within the locker room has contributed to our success on the ice,” stated John Wroblewski (Neenah, Wis.), head coach of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Women’s Hockey Team. “Today was another step toward our objective, and we will enter the quarterfinals prepared to compete and maintain this momentum.”
The U.S. is set to face Italy in the quarterfinals on Friday (Feb. 13) at 9:10 p.m. CET (3:10 p.m. ET) at Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena. The match will be broadcast on USA Network and available for streaming on Peacock.

Caroline Harvey (Salem, N.H./University of Wisconsin) opened the scoring at 3:45 of the first period, skating into the top of the slot and firing a shot that slipped past Canadian goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens.
Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho/Seattle Torrent) provided an assist on Harvey’s goal, which tied her for the most career points (32) in U.S. Olympic Women’s Hockey history alongside Jenny Potter.
Team USA increased its advantage with 2:42 left in the period, as Bilka took advantage from the slot after Abbey Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill./University of Minnesota) pursued the puck and delivered a behind-the-back pass.
Kirsten Simms (Plymouth, Mich./University of Wisconsin) scored her inaugural Olympic goal at 1:21 of the second period, fighting in the Canadian crease to push the puck into the net on the power play.
Bilka added her second goal of the game, firing a one-timer past Desbiens’ glove from the left faceoff circle at 13:00, extending Team USA’s lead to 4-0.
Laila Edwards (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/University of Wisconsin) recorded her first Olympic goal, launching a wrist shot over Desbiens’ shoulder from the top of the slot at 11:53 of the third period.
U.S. goaltender Aerin Frankel (Chappaqua, N.Y./Boston Fleet) concluded the game with a 20-save shutout, marking her second clean sheet of the tournament.
NOTES: The U.S. outshot Canada, 33-20 … Team USA converted 1-5 on the power play, while Canada went 0-1 … The U.S. delivered Canada its first-ever shutout loss in 41 Olympic matches.
