Scottie Scheffler emerges as the clear betting frontrunner for the Players Championship.

Scottie Scheffler is once again the frontrunner to secure his third career title at The Players Championship, and this time, the margin is substantial.
Scheffler is listed at +425 to triumph at TPC Sawgrass in 2026, with the nearest competitor, defending Players champion Rory McIlroy, positioned at 15-1, according to DraftKings odds. For reference, Scheffler was at +475 heading into the 2025 tournament when he aimed for an unprecedented third consecutive title, while the next closest golfer was at 11-1.
The 29-year-old standout is the sole player in the field with odds-on status to finish in the top 5 (-102) or top 10 (-194). Scheffler commenced the season in impressive form with a victory at the American Express, followed by top-four placements in the subsequent two events, before finishing outside the top 10 in his last two outings.
At BetMGM, Scheffler has drawn the highest percentage of tickets (9.7%) and the second-highest handle (12.2%) to win the tournament, yet his short odds have not rendered him a risk in the market. Conversely, Collin Morikawa (16-1) and Ludvig Åberg (20-1) have attracted significant bets and funds, making them the book’s largest liabilities. DraftKings lists them at 20-1 and 28-1, respectively, and has also received considerable action on both.
Morikawa — who has secured a win, a top-five, and a top-seven finish in his last three events — has seen his odds improve from 24-1 at the outset. Other notable movers at DraftKings include Viktor Hovland (44-1 to 37-1), Daniel Berger (57-1 to 50-1), and Nico Echavarria (190-1 to 155-1).
In contrast, McIlroy’s odds have decreased from 11-1 at the start, while other prominent players such as Xander Schauffele (+2250 to 31-1) and Jordan Spieth (59-1 to 72-1) have also experienced lengthened odds.
With Scheffler’s dominance at the top of the odds board, some bettors may choose the Winner Without market, where Morikawa also leads in tickets and handle at BetMGM. Scheffler (+1425) has not been a popular choice in the First Round Leader markets at either BetMGM or DraftKings, with Morikawa (32-1) and Åberg (35-1) also gaining traction there.
