Collin Morikawa informed ESPN’s Marty Smith that his recovery from a back problem, which led to his withdrawal from the Players Championship, is progressing positively, and he aims to return at the upcoming Valero Texas Open.

As reported by Smith, Morikawa expressed that he “feels really positive” about the Masters, which is scheduled for the following week.

The two-time major champion had to withdraw from the Players earlier this month after completing just one hole in his first round. He attempted a full-speed practice swing on the 11th tee, then stepped back and subsequently withdrew.

The world No. 8 has not participated in competitive play since, which has hindered a season that has already seen him achieve three top-10 finishes and a win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Morikawa is also a member of the Los Angeles Golf Club TGL team that faced Jupiter Links in the finals this week but was unable to compete due to his injury.
