Cameron Young climbs at the Masters, shares top position with Rory McIlroy

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Rory McIlroy commenced the third round of the Masters with a historic six-shot advantage after 36 holes. However, that lead had evaporated by the time he departed the 11th green.
In a series of remarkable turns, the Masters transformed from a solo performance into a competitive contest for the green jacket on Saturday. The initial significant challenger was Cameron Young, who claimed victory at The Players Championship in his previous outing.
Young recorded a 7-under 65 and exited Augusta National with a one-shot advantage. McIlroy began his comeback with a crucial birdie to level the score on the 14th.
When the round concluded, Young and McIlroy were tied for the lead at 11 under as they headed into the final round on Sunday. Sam Burns trailed by one shot, followed by Shane Lowry (-9), Jason Day (-8), and Justin Rose (-8).
Scottie Scheffler also remained in contention. The worldβs top-ranked player began the day 12 shots off the pace and shot a 65 to position himself within striking distance.
“I don’t feel like I’m out of the tournament,” Scheffler stated.
