Bryson DeChambeau pulls out of LIV tournament due to wrist injury.

MEXICO CITY — Bryson DeChambeau withdrew from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City on Sunday, citing a wrist injury that he wished to avoid exacerbating.
DeChambeau, who aimed to become the first player to secure three consecutive victories on LIV Golf, had a challenging start at Chapultepec Golf Club and was trailing Jon Rahm by 16 strokes at the time of his withdrawal.
“I felt some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday’s round and have chosen to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent any further injury,” DeChambeau stated in a social media post. “This is not how I envisioned this week unfolding.”
DeChambeau mentioned that he would undergo evaluation and expressed hope to participate in LIV Golf Virginia from May 7-10, just a week prior to the PGA Championship.
He did not make the cut at the Masters last week, where he took two strokes to escape a bunker and ended with a triple bogey on his final hole.
Rahm entered the final round in Mexico City with a two-shot advantage. The week has been marked by uncertainty regarding the Saudi-funded league, with CEO Scott O’Neil sending a memo to staff confirming that LIV was guaranteed funding through the end of the year amidst speculation about the league’s financial stability.
LIV Golf announced on Sunday that it would return to Chapultepec next year.
