Inter Milan match suspended following flare incident involving Cremonese goalkeeper

CREMONA, Italy — Inter Milan’s encounter against Cremonese was temporarily suspended on Sunday after home goalkeeper Emil Audero was hit by a flare.
The occurrence took place at the beginning of the second half. The action was centered in the midfield when a flare was launched from the away supporters’ section into the penalty area, hitting Audero.
The match was promptly halted as Audero rolled away in evident pain and shock while medical personnel rushed onto the pitch, and his teammates hurried to assist the injured goalkeeper.
Audero managed to rise and continue playing, although he sustained a cut on his right leg and seemed to inform the medical team that he was experiencing hearing issues in his right ear.
Inter players and coach Cristian Chivu urged the fans to act responsibly.
Audero, who played for Inter during the 2023-24 season, turned and shook his head at the supporters just before the game resumed, three minutes after the incident.
At that moment, Serie A leaders Inter were ahead 2-0.
