Warriors’ Stephen Curry (knee) to miss All-Star Game

SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be absent from this weekend’s All-Star Game due to an ongoing issue with his right knee.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr shared this information before the team’s Monday night matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, marking the fourth consecutive game that Curry has missed because of patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly referred to as runner’s knee.
Curry will also be sidelined for Wednesday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. The organization expressed optimism that he could return to the lineup following the All-Star break on February 19 at home against the Boston Celtics.
“It’s a matter of learning as I go what works rehab-wise,” Curry stated to ESPN regarding the knee issue. “Because it’s still painful. You have to try to eliminate all the inflammation and pain. It’s something we still have to monitor and manage, but if I return too soon, it could exacerbate the situation.”
The issue intensified two weeks ago during a personal workout. Curry missed one game in Minnesota, attempted to play through it in the following two games, and then left a home loss to the Detroit Pistons in the third quarter. He limped to the locker room and has since been engaged in individual rehabilitation.
Curry joins Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as All-Stars who have already been ruled out of Sunday’s showcase event in Los Angeles.
The NBA has yet to announce who will take Curry’s place on Team USA.
