Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in his right pinkie finger and is set to be re-evaluated in three weeks, according to sources reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday.

The All-Star starter sustained the injury during a collision with teammate Adem Bona with 16 seconds remaining in a defeat against Atlanta on Saturday. Maxey quickly grasped his right hand, concealing it beneath his jersey as he proceeded directly to the locker room.

Coach Nick Nurse mentioned on Monday that Maxey had X-rays and an MRI, which confirmed there were no fractures in his hand. However, Nurse indicated that Maxey would “consult with hand specialists to determine the next steps.”

According to sources, Maxey underwent further imaging and specialist evaluations, which identified the injured tendon.

Maxey had previously sprained the same pinkie last season. He is currently achieving career highs in points (29), rebounds (4.1), assists (6.7), steals (2), and blocks (0.8) over 61 games for the 76ers, who have slipped from a top-six playoff spot to eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia holds a record of 33-28 with Maxey — the only player this season with 100 steals and 50 blocks — and 1-2 in his absence.

The final day of the NBA regular season is April 12.
