Suns finalize multiyear contract with free agent Highsmith

Free agent Haywood Highsmith has reached a multiyear agreement with the Phoenix Suns, as confirmed by his agent Jerry Dianis to ESPN on Saturday.
Highsmith evaluated several playoff contenders before finalizing his deal with the Suns, according to sources. He was obtained by the Brooklyn Nets in a trade with the Miami Heat last offseason and was subsequently waived at this month’s trade deadline, making him a free agent.
The 29-year-old Highsmith has not yet participated in any games this season as he is recovering from knee surgery he had during the summer.
Recognized as a tough, two-way player when in good health, he joins a Suns squad that holds a record of 32-23 at the All-Star break, sitting 1.5 games behind the 5th seed.
