Kings defeat Grizzlies to end franchise-record 16-game losing streak

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Russell Westbrook recorded 25 points, while Precious Achiuwa contributed 22 points and 12 rebounds, leading the Sacramento Kings to a 123-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, thereby ending a 16-game losing streak, the longest in the franchise’s history.
DeMar DeRozan and Daeqwon Plowden each scored 20 points, with Plowden adding 10 points in the fourth quarter. Sacramento holds the NBA’s worst record and had not secured a win since defeating Washington on January 16.
This marked the Kings’ first road victory since December 6, 2025.
Javon Small topped the scoring for Memphis with 21 points and 9 assists. Olivier-Maxence Prosper added 17 points, while GG Jackson contributed 16 points.
The Grizzlies managed to take the lead early in the third quarter, but the Kings responded with an 18-6 run, establishing the game’s first double-digit lead midway through the period.
Sacramento entered the fourth quarter leading 92-89 and extended their advantage with a 15-4 run, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Westbrook with 8:45 remaining.
This was Westbrook’s fourth game of the season with 25 points, and his first since Sacramento’s last victory on January 16.
Injuries to key players have forced both teams to look toward the future. Memphis is currently in 11th place in the Western Conference and has frequently utilized lineups made up of available players. Eight Grizzlies were listed as injured for Monday’s game.
The Kings held a 63-61 lead at halftime, with both teams shooting over 54%. With the Grizzlies lacking an active player taller than the 6-foot-9 Jackson, Sacramento’s height advantage was evident, as Achiuwa recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds before halftime.
