Grizzlies’ standout Ja Morant sidelined for a minimum of two additional weeks

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will be sidelined for a minimum of two additional weeks as he continues to recover from a sprain to the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow sustained on January 21.
The Grizzlies announced on Wednesday that the two-time All-Star is making progress in his rehabilitation but is still experiencing discomfort. The team stated that Morant will undergo a re-evaluation in two weeks.
Grizzlies officials also confirmed that guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will have surgery on Thursday to correct the misalignment of his right pinky finger. A recovery timeline will be provided following the procedure.
Morant, 26, has participated in only 20 games for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 19.5 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds.
Despite being mentioned in numerous trade rumors over the past month, the Grizzlies opted to retain Morant at the trade deadline, instead trading two-time All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz.
Caldwell-Pope, 33, has recorded averages of 8.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds across 51 games.
