MILWAUKEE — Giannis Antetokounmpo will not participate in the All-Star Game as he is recuperating from a calf strain, but the two-time MVP will still travel to California for the weekend’s events.

Antetokounmpo has been sidelined since sustaining a right calf injury during a loss to the Denver Nuggets on January 23. The Bucks confirmed on Thursday that Antetokounmpo will not take part in the All-Star Game scheduled for Sunday in Inglewood, California.

San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox has been named as an injury replacement for Antetokounmpo in the All-Star Game. Fox will represent the USA Stripes team. Miami’s Norman Powell, who has connections to Jamaica, will transition from the USA Stripes team to occupy Antetokounmpo’s position on the Team World roster.

Despite his absence from the game, Antetokounmpo will proceed with his plans to assist in coaching the All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday. The Bucks also indicated that he will support his Team World teammates on Sunday.

Antetokounmpo is coaching one of the teams in the All-Star Celebrity Game alongside his brothers Thanasis and Alex, as well as Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts.

Antetokounmpo was chosen last month as a starter for the All-Star Game for the 10th consecutive year. The 31-year-old forward is currently averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists over 30 games.
