Cooper Flagg’s NBA debut jersey fetches $1 million at auction.

The jersey that Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg donned during the first half of his NBA debut was sold privately by Sotheby’s for $1 million, setting a record for a Flagg collectible and for a jersey sold via NBA Auctions.
In his inaugural regular-season game, Flagg recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 125-92 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 22. This season, Flagg has distinguished himself as the youngest player in the NBA to score 40 points in a game and holds the record for the most points scored by a teenager in a single game (49).
“The $1 million sale of Cooper Flagg’s rookie debut jersey is a strong indication of the value collectors assign to genuine ‘first moments’ in sports,” stated Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles. “This jersey represents the very start of a remarkable career, one filled with significant expectations and enthusiasm.”
The former record for a jersey sold through NBA Auctions was held by the one worn by Victor Wembanyama in the second half of his NBA debut, which fetched $762,000 in November 2023.
Sotheby’s NBA Rookie Debut Auction is scheduled from March 17-23 and will showcase debut jerseys from VJ Edgecombe, Kon Knueppel, Dylan Harper, Derik Queen, and others.
