LONDON — The All England Club announced on Saturday that Wimbledon will implement video review technology for the first time during this year’s tournament.

The prestigious Grand Slam event will have this technology accessible on Centre Court, No. 1 Court – the club’s second-largest venue – along with four additional show courts.

Players will have the opportunity to challenge specific decisions made by the chair umpire, including instances of double bounces.

Video review made its Grand Slam tennis introduction at the 2023 U.S. Open. The Australian Open also incorporates this technology.

Video review will be available on Centre Court and No. 1 Court throughout the tournament, which commences on June 29, and will also be utilized on No. 2 Court, No. 3 Court, Court 12, and Court 18 for singles matches.

There will be no restrictions on the number of reviews players can request.

It is important to note that video review operates independently from the electronic line-calling system used to determine whether balls are in or out.

Last year, Wimbledon transitioned from line judges to electronic line-calling, although the change encountered some challenges.
