ROME — The ATP Finals. The Davis Cup Finals. And now a Wimbledon preparation event on grass courts that may take place on the soccer field within Milan’s San Siro stadium.

Guided by top-ranked Jannik Sinner, the Italian tennis initiative continues to expand with new tournaments.

The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation has acquired the rights for a 250-level ATP Tour event in Brussels scheduled for October, as announced by federation president Angelo Binaghi on Tuesday.

This tournament will occur every June starting in 2028.

“There is still time to determine the location,” Binaghi stated. “Due to climate considerations, it will likely be situated in northern Italy.”

Binaghi mentioned that the Madrid Open is setting up practice courts within Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium, making the San Siro a potential venue: “For once, we wouldn’t be the first to do it.”

Italy has previously hosted a WTA tournament on grass in Gaiba from 2022 to 2024. The federation is also organizing the ATP Finals, currently taking place in Turin, until 2030 and the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna through next year.
