Alcaraz and Sinner set to compete for the Monte Carlo championship and the top spot in the world rankings.

MONACO — Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will rekindle their “Sincaraz” rivalry when they face off in the Monte Carlo Masters final on Sunday, with the No. 1 ranking on the line.
Four-time Grand Slam champion Sinner will regain the top position if he triumphs over seven-time major winner Alcaraz, who is the defending champion in Monte Carlo.
Sinner advanced to his first Monte Carlo final by defeating Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4 for the eighth consecutive time on Saturday. In his semifinal match, Alcaraz ousted local favorite Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-4, finishing with an exquisite drop shot.
Alcaraz holds a 10-6 advantage in their head-to-head record as they prepare for their ninth final. Both athletes are competing for their 27th career title.
Sinner claimed victories at Indian Wells and Miami, becoming only the fourth player to reach the final in the first three Masters tournaments of the season, joining the ranks of Roger Federer (2006), Rafael Nadal (2011), and Novak Djokovic (2015).
Alcaraz’s two titles this year include the Australian Open, where he defeated Djokovic and became the youngest man to win all four tennis majors.
