Official dies while attending to incident at World of Outlaws event
An official lost their life and another sustained serious injuries following a collision between two emergency vehicles during a World of Outlaws event in Texas on Saturday evening.
The World of Outlaws, a prominent American national touring dirt track racing series, reported that the officials were responding to an incident at Kennedale Speedway Park when the crash occurred.
“An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The remainder of the event has been postponed,” the series stated. “The entire racing community, along with those impacted, values your thoughts and prayers.”
As per various reports, sprint car driver Marcus Thomas had overturned his vehicle prior to a last chance showdown, and the two emergency vehicles collided in the infield while preparing to provide assistance.
The series did not disclose the identities of the officials involved.
